It is common for operators that acquire existing licences to overlook specific and sometimes complicated or outdated conditions endorsed on their liquor licence that were imposed in a markedly different regulatory environment. From time to time, it is crucial that operators assess if their licence conditions are fit for purpose to ensure unnecessary costs or regulatory compliance type risks are avoided.
We are pleased to have assisted Minsky’s Hotel, Cremorne, in streamlining their licence conditions and removing irrelevant restrictions. The venue has shifted to a higher-quality and more refined offering and consolidated its operations to a more targeted floor-space. This means that the conditions imposed nearly twenty years ago were not only no longer applicable but inhibited the style of venue currently trading.
Some of the conditions became irrelevant as the Hotel evolved from operating as a multi-level nightclub to a more refined and family friendly destination.
For Minsky’s, it required a simple ‘change liquor licence condition’ application to Liquor & Gaming NSW, articulating the business case for the removal of outdated conditions and proposing a streamlined and dynamic plan of management in their place.
It is important that the application was turned around very quickly from lodgement to approval with the efforts of our office on the one hand and the cooperation and input of the local licensing police and the staff at Liquor & Gaming NSW on the other.
